Cuca (burrah)

This is Cuca, my mom's first horse, an Apaloosa mare. My first horse painting. I might add some purplish/lavender flowers on the left side later tonight, but I'm done with Cuca herself.
The painting is 16x20, oil on canvas board.

I'd fav this if blogger had that feature. :)

I love the colors as well as the texture in this piece. This is really good, Brian.

thanks tropicity. i heard they sorted out the submission agreement over there. good to hear. I may yet again submit over there, except that I deleted everything selecting, "done with this place, yo." as a reason for deleting. I'd be violating the deletion agreement if I returned, I suspect. but I'm pretty suspicious. I like my blog. Fewer people see my work here, but then the other site has its drawbacks... Never felt comfortable telling clients to go check out my work there. This is different in that respect... And someday I'll have a regular site like a nifty professional, but this is good for now. thanks again. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I'm much more comfortable with working from my source photos... It seems that these paintings involving things I've photographed that have meaning to me are easier to paint... Which just means I need to take more photos...
This spring (if it ever comes) I plan on doing some plein air painting around indianapolis.

take care,
brian

plein air painting if mood permits... I'm hypomanic at the moment... scale of 1-10, ten being totally nutso fulltime conspiracy theorist out there, and 1 being bedridden with depression, I'm a 6.8-7.3 right now, depending on environmental circumstances... ten minutes ago I was calling family on the phone in the middle of a conversation with my brother about the paintings I made last night. I was enthusiastic in both conversations. 7.3- talkative, a bit careless- but essentially harmless giddiness. march 15, 2006 (to log my mood number)

hey man, thanks. My mood number is 5.0 right now, dead even normal. thanks for checking it out. No, I'm not horsing around anymore... The CW Mundy link you had on your blog opened my eyes to the type of work out there... which sounds ridiculous, I know... I really like his work, and this mix I'm working in right now- well your link couldn't come at a more interesting time.
thanks,

brian
